Business and Payroll Manager - Maternity Leave 1-Year Contract
Commencing early April 2026 (to allow for handover)

 

Aetaomah School, nestled in the foothills of Wollumbin, Northern NSW (10 minutes south of Uki), offers a creative and engaging Steiner curriculum. For over 30 years, our school, held by the mighty Tweed River and beautiful forests, has built a strong reputation for its unique approach to education.

 

Aetaomah School is seeking a capable, organised and proactive person to join our vibrant school community in the position of Business and Payroll Manager; this is a Maternity Leave 1-Year Contract. The successful applicant will commence in early April 2026 to ensure a thorough handover period.

This is a key leadership support role within our school, responsible for overseeing the financial and administrative operations that underpin the smooth running of Aetaomah School.

About the Role

​

Reporting to the Principal, the Business and Payroll Manager is responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Managing payroll

  • Overseeing all financial aspects of the school

  • Accounts payable and receivable

  • Paying bills and processing invoices

  • Reconciling accounts

  • Preparing financial reports

  • Liaising and working with auditors on an annual basis

  • Managing contracts

  • Supporting HR-related tasks, including employment documentation and compliance

This is a dynamic and varied role suited to someone who enjoys responsibility, accuracy and working in a collaborative and creative environment around children.

About You

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience in a similar business or finance role (experience in a school environment highly regarded)

  • Demonstrate strong payroll and financial management skills

  • Have sound knowledge of compliance and reporting requirements

  • Be highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple responsibilities

  • Be confident working with auditors and external stakeholders

  • Enjoy working in a dynamic workplace

  • Have an interest in Steiner Education and supporting a values-based school community

  • Desirably, have experience using MYOB

 

Salary

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the 

Independent Schools NSW (Professional and Operational Staff) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025, commensurate with experience.

Primary Class Teacher Position Description 

 

Position Title: Primary Class Teacher

Industrial Instrument: Independent Schools (Teachers) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise

Agreement 2025

Reports to: The Principal

Employment Type: Permanent 

Classification: Teacher

 

Aetaomah teachers are encouraged to work from their strengths, engage collaboratively with their colleagues, and enrich students’ learning through working creatively. Teachers should possess knowledge, passion, embrace the philosophy of Steiner Education and have the ability to use their skills creatively to bring beauty, joy and genuine warmth to their role as Teacher and to their students as learners. The Teacher will have a thorough understanding of the Steiner Curriculum, stages of child development, and the skills to foster healthy and respectful relationships with students, parents and community members. 

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop, implement and evaluate artistic, engaging and effective educational programs with Steiner pedagogical practice meeting NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) requirements, and the individual needs of students as they relate to the primary school curriculum.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver a developmentally appropriate curriculum that integrates the arts: music and singing, painting and drawing, movement, modeling, handwork, speech and drama in line with NESA requirements.

  • Adhere to and model the Steiner ethos and philosophy throughout the delivery of education.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet the needs of a diverse cohort of learners.

  • The capacity to develop their outdoor teaching skills; to plan, organise and deliver age appropriate, safe inspiring excursions, camps and physical education. 

  • Develop and maintain a nurturing, positive learning environment and attend to the pastoral care of all students.

  • Establish and maintain positive and supportive relationships and effective communication with parents and carers.

  • A willingness and the interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with children, parents and colleagues.

  • A willingness to actively participate in and contribute to the cultural and festival life of the school.

  • Willingness and ability to work collegially and participate fully as a member of the College of Teachers

  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.

 

Key Selection Criteria

Along with other skills candidates should possess:

  • Demonstrated experience delivering the primary curriculum within a Steiner context, while employing an engaging and creative approach to your teaching practice.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current teaching practices, theory, and principles of Steiner Primary Education.

 

Essential 

  • Hold relevant teaching qualifications and experience.

  • Registration with NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).

  • Current Working With Children Check (WWCC)

  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of Steiner education.

 

Desirable

  • Steiner teaching qualifications.

  • Experience as a class teacher in a Steiner school.

  • Current First Aid certification.
